- Write descriptions for search and the close-up view, not the feed

How to Use Pinterest Pin Preview

How Much of Your Pin Title and Description Shows in the Feed
This is the part most pinners get wrong, and it's the reason previewing matters.
Your pin title can be up to 100 characters, but the feed only displays around the first 40 before cutting it off. Everything after that is invisible while someone scrolls, which is why your keyword and hook need to sit at the front of the title, not the end.
Your description can run up to 500 characters, but it barely appears in the feed at all. Descriptions show up in the close-up view and help Pinterest understand what your pin is about for search. So write descriptions for Pinterest's search engine and for the reader who already tapped, not for the feed.
