How many pins should I post per day on Pinterest?

5-15 pins per day is the current sweet spot for most accounts. The old advice to post 25-50 daily is outdated — Pinterest's algorithm now rewards fresh, original content over volume, and consistency beats burst-posting.

This number has shifted over time. In the early 2010s, the popular advice was to repin aggressively — 25, 50, even 100 times a day. After Pinterest's 2020 algorithm update that prioritized fresh content, the recommendation dropped sharply. Repinning the same image to 10 boards no longer works the way it did.

Current guidance

  • New accounts (0-3 months): 1-5 pins per day. Ramp up gradually.
  • Established accounts: 5-15 pins per day. This is the comfort zone.
  • High-volume publishers (large blogs, ecommerce catalogs): up to 25 per day, but only if the content is genuinely fresh.

Why fresh matters

Pinterest's algorithm rewards what it calls "fresh pins" — original images that haven't appeared on the platform before. A new pin design with a new image is fresh; the same image re-uploaded to a different board is not.

Quality outperforms quantity over a 90-day window. One excellent pin per day, repeated for three months, will typically out-perform 30 mediocre pins per day for the same period. Pinterest's own creator guidance now recommends 1-2 fresh pins per day as a baseline.
